Telangana Rains Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall alert for large parts of Telangana on Tuesday, prompting the Cyberabad police to advise companies in the IT corridor and surrounding areas to consider implementing Work From Home (WFH) arrangements for the day. The advisory comes amid concerns over traffic congestion, public safety, and uninterrupted emergency services.

As per the IMD’s latest bulletin, an orange alert, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall, has been issued for 18 districts. These include Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, and Kamareddy.

In addition, a yellow alert, warning of the possibility of heavy rain, has been issued for Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, and Nagarkurnool.

The IMD has also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated places across all 33 districts of the state.

In Hyderabad and surrounding areas, the forecast for the next 24 hours indicates a generally cloudy sky with a high chance of moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds especially in the evening or at night. Temperatures are expected to range between 23 degrees C (minimum) and 31 degrees C (maximum).

Cyberabad Police Advise WFH

The Cyberabad Police, responding to the weather alerts, issued a public advisory urging IT companies in the region to enable WFH for employees on Tuesday. The advisory stated, “An alert has been issued for heavy rains in the Cyberabad area. Considering the safety, productivity, traffic congestion and to ensure uninterrupted emergency services, the companies may consider following Work from Home (WFH) mode on Tuesday.”

Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr Gajarao Bhupal also posted on social media, “We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter,” he wrote, while warning residents to expect moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms in the evening or night, and advised people to plan travel accordingly.
