Hours after Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif expressed support for the Congress alliance's stance on the abrogation of Article 370, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticised the Leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi and the Congress alliance, accusing them of aligning with Pakistan's views for electoral gain.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised Congress, claiming that the party's true intentions have been revealed and that it shares the same agenda as Pakistan. He also vowed that Article 370 will never be reinstated in Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah took to the social media platform X and said, "This statement has once again made it clear that Congress and Pakistan share the same intentions and agenda. For the past few years, Rahul Gandhi has been aligning with every anti-India force, hurting the sentiments of the nation."

Accusing Gandhi and the Congress Party of being against India's interest, BJP leader Amit Malviya in a post on X said, "Pakistan, a terrorist state, endorses Congress and National Conference's position on Kashmir. Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, on Hamid Mir's Capital Talk on Geo News says, "Pakistan and National Conference-Congress alliance are on the same page in Jammu & Kashmir to restore Article 370 and 35A". How is it that, from Pannun to Pakistan, Rahul Gandhi and his Congress, are always seen on the side of those inimical to India's interest?".

‘Not First Time Congress Is Echoing Pakistan’s Stance'

On Khawaja’s statements, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla further said, "This isn't the first time the Congress-National Conference are echoing Pakistan's stance. Rahul Gandhi was the first to make statements aligning with Pakistan's views on Article 370, all for electoral gain."

The BJP spokesperson further questioned, "Would Pakistan and the National Conference now permit foreign intervention in India's internal matters? Why does a terror state like Pakistan support Congress?"

“Today the cat is out of the bag. For Modi Virodh they can even stand with Pakistan. Congress NC ka Haath Pakistan ke Saath,” he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, during an appearance on Geo News with senior journalist Hamid Mir on the show Capital Talk, Pakistan's Defence Minister was asked whether Pakistan and the National Conference-Congress alliance share the same stance on the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir.

Khwaja Asif replied, "Absolutely. Even our demand is also the same..."

"I think it is possible. Currently, the National Conference and Congress have very big importance over there. The population of the valley has been motivated a lot on this issue and I believe, there is a chance that the Conference (National Conference) will come to power. They have made this an election issue that the status of Jammu and Kashmir should be restored," Asif told Geo News
