The BJP on Monday attacked the Congress, claiming that the entire top leadership of the Congress is involved in corruption and has grabbed the land illegally. The saffron party also suggested that the Congress' top office bearers should resign as they have been "exposed".
BJP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Tripathi trained his guns on Congress after party president Mallikarjun Kharge's family withdrew its request for the allotment of five acres of civic amenity site in Bengaluru to set up a 'Multi-Skill Development Centre, Training Institutes, and Research Centre'. The BJP has claimed that they decided to withdraw the request following Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi returning the 14 sites to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority after the Lokayukta police registered a case against Siddaramaiah, his wife, and his brother-in-law. Trivedi further claimed that these decisions were triggered by adverse CAG reports and legal proceedings.

He also claimed that both Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are accused in the National Herald case, which pertains to alleged capture of the company's properties at a highly nominal rate. He also reminded that the probe started even before the BJP came into power in 2014. He further said that Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, and DK Shivkumar are facing similar charges.
"It clearly shows that the entire top leadership of the Congress is involved in corruption involving land-grabbing," said Trivedi. "Should not those who returned land resign on moral grounds?" he asked.
Earlier, BJP MP Jagdish Shettar also raised questions regarding the timing of the decision by the Kharge family. Shettar said, "When allegations are made against the Siddhartha trust of Mallikarjun Kharge, he wants to return the land to the KIADB. Now why do they want to return it? They have to answer it. Why do public leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyank Kharge want to get government land? ...When the inquiry instigated public debate against them, then they are returning the site."
