Jagran Correspondent Kushinagar | Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who arrived in Tekuatar, Kushinagar, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 464 projects worth Rs 525 crore on Saturday, targeted the Opposition parties, saying that those in whose governments temples were encroached are now talking about mandir. His statement came amidst the political heat surrounding the Ram Temple donation theft case.
The money meant for temple construction was used to build boundary walls for graveyards, the chief minister claimed, adding that the money received in the name of temples was embezzled. These people can never think of Mathura, Kashi, and Ayodhya, he said.
Under the BJP government, seven to eight new temples have been built in each assembly constituency of the state. Those who are holding us up to religious faith today should first look at themselves, Yogi said.
Before 2017, There Was 'Policy Paralysis': Chief Minister
On Saturday, while addressing the gathering at a public meeting, the chief minister said, "You should also ask them these questions." Targeting the Samajwadi Party government, Yogi said before 2017, there was a government with 'policy paralysis'. "The thinking itself was paralysed, making any talk of development meaningless. There was no policy, no intention. Development was stalled, and investment was hampered. SP goons were plundering the interests of the common people. There used to be riots, but now there are no curfews, no riots, and everything is fine in UP," he said.
He criticised previous governments, citing the deaths of innocent children from encephalitis and Mushahars from hunger in Kushinagar. "Kushinagar is an example, and the situation was the same throughout the state," he said.
Now, neither childhood is prematurely snatched away by disease, nor does anyone die of hunger in the state, the CM asserted.
The Chief Minister also addressed the plight of the Diara region, which has been an election issue since independence. He blamed previous governments for the plight of the Diara villages across the Narayani River.
