TMC leader Jahangir Khan's wife, Sarina Bibi was arrested, for allegedly orchestrating an attack on the Falta Police to secure her husband's release from custody. Officials said, fresh charges have been filed against her, including provisions under the Arms Act and the Explosives Act, and they also revealed that the attack was a "pre-planned conspiracy".
More than 25 people were arrested in connection to the case. Sarina Bibi was arrested after she mobilised several supporters to stage an agitation to protest against Khan's arrest and planned an attempt to forcibly free him from custody.
What Happened At The Site
Investigators say that around 400 people gathered near Falta's Shatol Kolsa area on June 17 and staged a protest before heading towards the police station. Following this, cops and intelligence agencies were deployed in advance to prevent any attempt to attack the station.

An officer alleged that a section of the protestors were planning to attack the police station during the demonstration and snatch away the accused. Adequate security arrangements were made beforehand, and timely action by police and central forces prevented any such attempt.
The wife's arrest comes days after TMC leader Jahangir Khan was arrested by the State Police Special Task Force (STF). Police said seven FIRs were filed against Khan at Falta police station in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district. The cases are liked to the EVM tampering by applying tapes on BJP sympols in the South 24 Parganas Constituency.

The Calcutta High Court had withdrawn interim protection previously granted to Khan from any coercive action by the police in a series of criminal cases filed against him. The court had ear allowed Khan relief from coercive steps, but this was later cancelled.The judges stated that continuing such protection would not be appropriate simply because of a change in the political situation in the state and claims of political vendetta raised by the petitioner.
