Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra on May 3 got married to senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former MP Pinaki Misra in a low-key ceremony in Germany. However, neither Moitra nor Misra has issued any official statement regarding their marriage.

A photo is making the rounds across social media, showing the TMC MP adorned with jewellery in wedding attire, all smiles alongside the BJD leader.

Mahua Moitra’s personal life has always been in the spotlight. She was previously married to Danish financier Lars Brorson. The duo got divorced later. She was also in a relationship with advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai for about three years, whom she referred to as a "jilted lover."

During the 2023 cash-for-query controversy involving Mahua Moitra, her relationship with Mishra came to the fore. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cited an affidavit by businessman Darshan Hiranandani, alleging a close relationship between Moitra and Mishra. However, Mishra denied these allegations at the time, calling them malicious and unverified. He also threatened legal action against the BJP for defamation.

Moitra was born in Assam in 1974. She started her career as an investment banker before entering politics. She joined the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC IN 2010 and won the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Krishnanagar. She was reelected from here in 2024.

Pinaki Misra was born in 1959. He is an experienced parliamentarian and a senior advocate practising in the Supreme Court of India. He studied History at St. Stephen’s College in Delhi and later earned a law degree from Delhi University.
