Toll charges in India have been revised annually in line with inflation and highway operators have put up notices in local newspapers announcing a 3 per cent to 5 per cent hike at about 1,100 toll plazas from Monday. A senior official of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) told news agency Reuters that since the election process is over, revisions have been made in user fee (toll) rates. This was put on hold during the elections, and will now come into effect from June 3.
