Train Cancelled Status: The Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of 22 trains until the end of February and the first week of March 2026 due to dense fog during the winter season. Several long-distance express trains will remain suspended for over three months. The decision comes after major delays were reported on Wednesday, with multiple trains running significantly behind schedule.
List Of Trains Delayed On Wednesday
Several trains ran significantly behind schedule on Wednesday due to dense winter fog. The Amritsar Clone Special Express arrived five hours and 15 minutes late, the Amrapali Express was delayed by four and a half hours, and the Howrah-Amritsar Mail reached almost four hours late. With no trains arriving for stretches of three to four hours, railway stations appeared nearly deserted. Passengers whose trains were delayed were seen sitting in the circulating area, warming themselves in the sun.
Other major delays included:
Sachkhand Express and Lohit Express - delayed by three and a half hours
Saryu Yamuna Express - delayed by two and a half hours
Sambalpur Express and Udhampur Superfast Express - delayed by one hour and 45 minutes
Hirakud Express - delayed by one and a half hours
Malwa Superfast Express - delayed by one hour and 15 minutes
Ludhiana-Chheharta MEMU - delayed by one hour
Sarbat Da Bhala Express, Shalimar Express, and Uttar Sampark Kranti Express - delayed by around 30 minutes
List Of Trains Cancelled Until February End And First Week of March
The following trains will remain cancelled due to persistent fog conditions:
1. Garib Rath Express (12207/12208) - till February 24
2. Yog Nagari Jammu Tawi Express (14606/14605) - till February 22
3. Lal Kuan-Amritsar Express (14615/14616) - till January 28
4. Janseva Express (14617/14618) - till March 2
5. Kalka-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Express (14503/14504) - till February 28
6. Nangal Dam Express (14505/14506) - till February 28
7. Amritsar-Chandigarh Express (14541/14542) - till February 28
8. Amritsar-Ajmer Express (19611/19614) - till March 1
9. Akal Takht Express (12317/12318) - till February 24
10. Durgyana Express (12357/12358) - till February 28
11. Jalandhar Intercity Express (14681/14682) - till March 1

This year the railway announced the cancellation of several trains between December 1, 2025, and February 28, 2026. Saharanpur Station Senior Superintendent A.K. Tyagi said the decision was taken following instructions issued due to heavy fog conditions. He added that the Railways will arrange alternative facilities to ensure passengers do not face inconvenience during their journey.
