IRCTC ePayLater: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced a new digital payment facility for passengers that allows to book tickets without instant payment. The digital initiative named 'ePayLater' enables passengers to book their train tickets and pay later without any interest.

The ePayLater option is available on both the website and the mobile application and extends to flight tickets and tour packages, both domestic and international.

When will passengers have to pay?

Moreover, the service can also be availed to book Tatkal tickets. This is significant as lakhs of tickets are booked in Tatkal quota everyday. According to IRCTC, the passengers can make payment within 14 days.

For availing the benefit of the scheme, the passenger will not have to pay interest or any hidden charge.

Process of availing ePayLater service

The process to avail the benefits of instant and payment-less booking is simple and similar to an ordinary booking. The passengers will have to select their preferred train, flight, or tour packages offered by IRCTC.

Then, after proceeding to the payment page, the passengers can simply choose the 'ePayLater' option and confirm the booking. There is no requirement for card details or wallet balance.

The scheme will benefit travellers during the last moment flight booking when the prices rises, often crating scenarios of low balances in hand.

The scheme is part of IRCTC's push for Digital India and a cashless economy. The ePayLater scheme has been launched in collaboration with Arthashastra Fintech Pvt Ltd.
