Travelling on national highways and expressways in India will become more expensive starting April 1, 2026. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is preparing to increase toll taxes. According to reports, travelling from Delhi to Meerut could become more expensive from April 1, 2026.
How Much Will The Increase Be?
According to reports, the National Highway Authority of India may increase toll taxes by at least five per cent. Prices could be increased by 5 to 10 per cent.
Travel On Delhi-Meerut Expressway To Become Expensive
Travelling on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway is about to get more expensive. According to reports, tolls on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway will increase starting April 1, 2026. Traveling on the expressway could become more expensive by up to five per cent.
Travel On Bengaluru-Mysore Highway To Become Expensive
Taxes will be increased on several other highways across India, including the Bengaluru to Mysore section. The Airport Road in Bengaluru, the Tamil Nadu East Coast Road, and the Madurai Ring Road will also become more expensive.
Travel On Delhi-Mumbai Route To Become Expensive
According to reports, travel on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway will also become more expensive. The toll plaza at Bharthana, the busiest, will also see a price increase.

In another major update for the commuters, the much-awaited Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is in the final stages and is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the first week of April. While providing details, the officials stated that the project has already entered its trial phase across sections. While the exact date of inauguration has not been announced yet, the expressway is likely to begin operation in the upcoming weeks. The expressway will significantly boost the regional connectivity by linking the two key cities.
- The expressway spans a total length of 210 kilometres
- It is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 13,000 crore
- The six-lane expressway will begin at Akshardham temple in Delhi and will connect to Dehradun via Saharanpur
- It is likely to reduce the travel time between the two cities from around six hours to just two and a half hours
