Karnataka chose a sarcastic way to inform its residents about potholes on the road. A warning signboard on a pothole-ridden road compared the journey on the road to a treasure hunt. A warning poster hanged with the branches of a tree along with the pothole-ridden road was shared by an X user who captioned it as ‘Gem in Karnataka’. The signboard has left people online in a split, sparking relatable and funny reactions.
An X handle with user ID @sahanasatianaat shared the poster on the social media platform, writing, “Gems in Karnataka. Worth reading if you know Kannada.” The signboard, originally written in Kannada, has gone viral in translation. The English translation reads: Warning sign, “Some sorcerer said that there is a treasure on the road from Kaikamba to Kukke Subramanya. The state government, alerted to the search for treasure on this road, has dug large holes in the middle of the road and left them there. Move slowly.”

The signboard went viral as users from across the country praised the creativity and shared their pothole stories.
One user joked, “ROFL…that’s my native! Whoever did it deserves an award.” Another User wrote, “This is #Nidhibhagya…They’re searching for treasure across Karnataka.”
One more user said, “Looks like the same astrologer predicted treasure under Bengaluru roads, that’s why they’re full of potholes.” The Kaikamba–Kukke Subramanya route, known for scenic drives to the popular pilgrimage town, is also infamous for its poorly maintained roads.
