Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has stirred a fresh row by commenting on Ram Temple months after facing a massive backlash for his comments on Sanatan Dharma. DMK leader Stalin said his party doesn’t support the idea of constructing a temple at a place where a mosque was destroyed, adding that they were not against building any temple.
“Like our leader said politics and religion should not be mixed, we are not against construction of any temple, but we do not support the idea of constructing a temple at a place where a mosque was destroyed,” Jagran Hindi quoted the Tamil Nadu Minister as saying.
When asked about AIADMK skipping the event, he said it was their choice, adding that "They have already sent kar sevaks to Ayodhya."
This comes when rituals in the backdrop of grand Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the newly constructed Ram Temple are going on. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other political, religious dignitaries will be present in Ayodhya for the consecration event on January 22.
Udhayanidhi's comment on Sanatan Dharma:
Last year, the DMK leader garnered massive criticism and ire after he equated the Sanatan Dharma with diseases like Dengue and Coronavirus, asserting that it must be eradicated. The statement even created a rift in the INDIA bloc with many leaders asking Udhayanidhi to refrain from making such statements.
BJP took a strong offense over the DMK leader’s statement alleging the latter was talking about the genocide of 80 per cent Hindus. Udhayanidhi, however, refuted this claim.
