Delhi News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the much-awaited Delhi part of Urban Extension Road (UER-2) and Dwarka Expressway. The officials stated that UER-2 is likely to give a significant boost to the regional connectivity by cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion. The extension road will start from National Highway 44 (Alipur) and will meet the Dwarka Expressway near Yashobhoomi via Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh, and Dwarka.
The operation of the extension road is likely to provide relief to thousands of commuters by improving the connectivity to the IGI Airport and other key regions of Delhi-NCR. Apart from this, the ring road is also expected to provide convenience to commuters traveling to other nearby states, including Haryana and Punjab, as it is linked with many highways and expressways, including the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway and the Dwarka Expressway.
UER-2: Route and other details
- The ring road starts from Alipur on the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway and runs through several regions of the national capital, including Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh, and Dwarka, before joining the Dwarka Expressway.
- It connects to Mahipalpur after joining the Dwarka Expressway and links up with the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, providing direct access to the airport.
- The link road will connect industrial areas of Bawana and Narela in Delhi and Sonipat and Bahadurgarh in Haryana, which will provide a significant boost to the financial activities in Delhi-NCR.
