UER-2 Toll Charges: Residents of the nearby villages along the Mundka-Bakkarwala toll plaza on the Urban Extension Road (UER)-2 have expressed their frustration over the alleged excessive toll charges. The villagers stated that the toll charges have significantly affected their businesses and agricultural activities. The transporters have also expressed anger by stating that their expenses have increased due to the charges, adding that it has also affected the businesses of the nearby markets, factories, and warehouses. The locals have demanded to cut all the toll charges, further warning of massive protest if their demands are not met.
UER-2: Toll charges are affecting businesses
While providing details, the villagers stated that a large number of small vehicles travel to Gurugram carrying goods from industrial areas of several regions of Delhi, including Mundka, Narela, Bawana, and Mangolpuri. They further claimed that the income of small transporters has decreased by 15 to 20 per cent after the toll charges have been implemented.

The villagers further stated that they celebrated when the project was inaugurated, as it was supposed to cut the travel time and reduce traffic congestion. However, the toll charges have negatively impacted their businesses, resulting in frustration among the villagers.
"We want this toll to be closed. It is not possible for small goods vehicle drivers to pay such an expensive toll. Due to the toll, the income of every small transporter has decreased by 15 to 20 percent. To avoid the toll, we started going through the village connecting roads, but now after the increase in the number of commercial vehicles on these connecting roads, the villagers have started protesting. We are not able to understand what to do," All India Transport Association State President Surendra Lakra was quoted as saying by Jagran.Com.
The UER-2 was inaugurated last month by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to improve the connectivity between multiple regions of the national capital and other nearby cities.
