In a shocking incident from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, a woman eloped with her daughter’s fiancé just 10 days before the wedding, leaving the entire family in disbelief. The incident took place in a village under the jurisdiction of Madrak police station and has quickly gained attention due to its bizarre twist.
The bride-to-be, Shivani, was all set to marry Rahul on April 16. Wedding preparations were in full swing, invitations had been sent, and relatives had begun arriving. But what followed stunned everyone her own mother, Anita, ran away with her would-be son-in-law as per a report by NDTV.
Not only did Anita elope, but she also reportedly took Rs 3.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth over Rs 5 lakh from the family’s home. “My mother has taken everything, there isn’t even Rs 10 left. She used to speak to Rahul a lot over the past few months, but we never expected this,” said heartbroken Shivani.
Her father, Jitendra Kumar, who runs a business in Bengaluru, said he had noticed Anita talking to Rahul for long hours, sometimes even up to 22 hours a day. However, he chose to stay silent as the wedding was near. “I was suspicious, but I didn’t want to cause drama before the wedding. Now she has left with him and taken everything we had,” he said.
Kumar added that both Anita and Rahul have switched off their phones. When he tried to reach them, Rahul allegedly responded by saying, “You troubled your wife for 20 years. Forget her now.”
The family has filed a missing person’s report with the local police, who have confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Authorities have assured the family that efforts are being made to locate both Anita and Rahul.
