The UP Transport Department has also directed schools to ensure character verification and regular health check-ups for drivers responsible for transporting children.

The department will conduct regular inspections of school vehicles and take action if any negligence or violation of safety standards is found. The move follows the Chief Minister's directions for regular inspections of vehicles used to ferry schoolchildren.

Following the instructions, the Transport Department has issued letters to school administrators across UP, asking them to strengthen safety arrangements for school transport.

Schools have been directed to ensure character verification and regular medical examinations of drivers. Management must also ensure that only vehicles meeting the prescribed safety standards are used to transport children.

The school transport in-charge will be responsible for regularly monitoring the safety and condition of school vehicles. The validity of all mandatory documents must also be checked regularly.

Monthly Checks Of School Vehicles

School vehicles will undergo monthly inspections of essential safety equipment, including first-aid kits, fire extinguishers and emergency alarms.

Any missing or defective equipment must be repaired or replaced immediately. School management will also have to monitor vehicle fitness certificates, permits, insurance and other mandatory documents.
