As many as 30 people died in rain-related incidents after Uttar Pradesh witnessed an abrupt weather change. Lightning and storms accompanied by drizzle brought respite from the scorching heat but there is no relief from humidity. The maximum temperature, which had touched the 45 degrees Celsius mark, has seen a significant dip.
As per Jagran.com, five deaths each have occurred in Prayagraj and Jaunpur, two each in Lalitpur, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Bijnor, one each in Kanpur Dehat, Kushinagar, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow, Hardoi, Sambhal, Jhansi, Jalaun, Amethi, Sonbhadra in rain-linked incidents.

Seven people are reported to have died in Kanpur due to heat, as per the aforementioned media outlet.
In Prayagraj, a couple and their two daughters sleeping under a thatched roof on Saturday night died after being struck by lightning. In another incident of lightning, a labourer also lost his life, while his wife was burned. A teenager was killed after lightning struck seven people working in the field in Sambhal. Besides, an old man died after getting buried under a wall due to a tree falling in the storm.
Lightning struck a temple and a house in Rampur district. Three children were burnt due to lightning in Gorakhpur. Among them, a girl died during treatment. Apart from this, a woman died due to lightning while collecting wood. Five people died due to lightning in Jaunpur. A child and a farmer also died due to lightning in Ghazipur.
Two people died due to lightning in Bijnor. A young man died due to lightning while guarding his crop in Hardoi. An old man died due to a tree branch falling on a tin shed in Amethi.
The weather department has forecasted that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the state between June 18 and 20. As a result, the maximum and minimum temperatures may fall by five to seven degrees Celsius in most areas in the coming week.
