Uttar Pradesh By-Election: The Uttar Pradesh BJP has written a letter to the Election Commission demanding a change in the dates of by-elections to be held on 9 seats in the state. It has asked the poll body to change the date of voting for the by-election from November 13 to November 20.
According to jagran.com, it is written in the letter that the Kartik Purnima has religious significance in UP. The Kartik Purnima falls on 15 November 2024 and a large number of people go to bathe and worship on Kartik Purnima. Along with this, people go 3-4 days in advance to participate in the fair and worship on the occasion of Kartik Purnima in Kundarki, Meerapur, Ghaziabad, and Prayagraj. Due to Kartik Purnima, the majority of voters will be deprived of voting, and the commission also believes that 100% voting of every voter should be done. In such a situation, 100% voting is not possible, so it would be appropriate to fix the date of the by-election on November 20 instead of November 13.
Voting will be held on November 13 in nine seats in Uttar Pradesh. The counting of votes on these seats will be done on November 23. At the same time, the Election Commission has not announced the date of the election in the Milkipur assembly seat of Ayodhya.
The 10 seats of the state on which by-elections are to be held include Sisamau of Kanpur, Phulpur of Prayagraj, Karhal of Mainpuri, Majhawan of Mirzapur, Milkipur of Ayodhya, Katehari of Ambedkarnagar, Ghaziabad Sadar, Khair of Aligarh, Kundarki of Moradabad, and Mirapur seat of Muzaffarnagar.
The wait for the announcement of BJP candidates for the assembly by-election may be extended till next week. Before the announcement of the candidates, it is being said that the names will be announced on October 21-22 only after another round of brainstorming with the top BJP leaders in Delhi.
