Uttarakhand, often referred to as ‘Devbhumi’ due to its religious significance, has been battling against the relentless fury of wildfires. After Nainital, the raging fire in Uttarakhand has intensified with 43 new incidents of wildfire reported in the state within the past 24 hours in which a total of 62 hectares of forest area was damaged. From the majestic heights of Garhwal to the Lake District of India, Kumaon, the fresh incidents of forest fires have cast a shadow of alarm over Uttarakhand, as authorities and communities brace themselves against this wrath of nature.
According to Dainik Jagran, 1011 hectares of forest area have been burnt in a total of 804 incidents so far. As the wildfire continues in Uttarakhand, the forest department is continuously trying to control the fire with the help of the Indian Army. Meanwhile, as many as 315 cases have been registered under the Forest Conservation Act and forest crimes for setting fire in the forest. Nearly 52 people have been reportedly arrested for setting fire in the forests.

Impact Of Wildfire On Animals:
As the raging fire engulfs the forests of Uttarakhand, wild animals are forced into a desperate struggle for survival. The wild animals have started moving towards villages and cities in search of food and water. The situation highlights the urgent need for concerted action to protect both its natural treasures and its inhabitants.

Not only animals, the forest fire has also impacted water sources. Uttarakhand state agitator Hem Pant said that human life is in danger and the cooperation of villagers should be taken to save the forests.
