Uttarakhand Forest Fires: Amid several reports of destruction, three houses in Uttarakhand were reduced to ashes on Friday due to the fire in the nearby forest. The incident happened in the Tiuni district when the family members had gone outside for the farming purposes.

The eye-witnesses stated that the fire from the nearby forest reached the village and the two-storey residential buildings made of wood got engulfed in flames. The victims stated that they have suffered losses worth lakhs. SDM Yogesh Singh Mehra assured that an investigation will take place and has sought a report of the incident from the regional officers.

The locals stated that the fire created panic among them and the houses were reduced to ashes within minutes. While they tried to control the fire by the available resources, it could not control it. The victims stated that all their life savings is gone and urged the administration to provide financial help to rebuild their homes.

In a similar incident in Chakrata, 1200 fruit trees were burnt to ashes after a fire broke out in the apple farms. The farmers stated that they could not control the wild fire and have suffered a big financial loss. The Revenue Department team reached at the site after being informed and they inspected the site. They also sought information from the locals regarding the incident and prepared a report based on that.

The team members assured that they have sent a report of the damage to the higher authorities. It is said that the fire that started in the bushes below the gardens became fierce and spread all around.

Most of the people residing in this area are dependent on farming for livelihood. They expected better growth of crops this year due to rain and snowfall. However, the incidents of forest fires have made the situation for them. The victims have requested the administration for a compensation.
