Uttarakhand Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for several districts of Uttarakhand, warning of extremely heavy rainfall over the next few days. States across North India, including Himachal Pradesh, are experiencing intense monsoon activity, leading to landslides, flash floods and major disruptions to daily life.

The IMD has also issued a yellow alert over the entire state of Uttarakhand until August 10, while certain hilly districts such as Uttarkashi, Tehri, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag and Bageshwar are under red alert. These regions are expected to receive very heavy rainfall at isolated spots.

Flash floods and severe waterlogging have been reported in various parts of Uttarkashi district following intense showers. Overflowing rivers and flooded streams have disrupted road connectivity, affecting movement and emergency response.

According to officials, other districts likely to be impacted by heavy downpours include Almora, Nainital, Haridwar, Pauri, Champawat, Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar. Residents have been advised to remain alert and avoid travelling in vulnerable zones.

Uttarakhand CM Visited Dharali Region

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Dharali region, which was severely affected by a cloudburst on Tuesday. The incident led to massive flash floods and landslides, leaving the area covered in layers of debris.

During his visit, CM Dhami confirmed that around 190 people had been rescued from the affected zone and moved to safer locations. He stated that the entire village had suffered significant damage and emergency teams were still working to bring injured individuals to hospitals in Uttarkashi.

The Chief Minister said that both the state and central governments were closely monitoring the situation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also extended full support to ensure necessary aid and relief for those impacted.
