Uttarakhand Weather: Residents across Uttarakhand woke up to a refreshing change in weather on Sunday morning, as rain, thunder, and strong winds provided much-needed relief after days of scorching heat. This sudden shift brought cooler and more comfortable conditions to North India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts in Uttarakhand, warning of moderate rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds in the coming days.
Light to moderate rain, along with thundershowers, is expected in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand on Sunday. Higher altitudes above 3,500 metres may see some snowfall, while the lower mountain areas might get isolated light showers.

Nainital, in particular, saw a dramatic shift in weather, with thunder and hailstorms bringing a sharp drop in temperature. Light rain and thundershowers are also expected in the plains. Prior to this, Uttarakhand had been enduring dry conditions, which led to intense heatwaves in many areas.
The Meteorological Centre has forecast that the weather will continue to change across the state, with some parts of the hills seeing light to moderate rainfall, along with thunder and lightning.
Uttarakhand Weather: Heavy Rain Till March 17
For today, the forecast includes light to moderate rain, with the possibility of lightning in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. Snowfall is also expected in areas above 3,500 metres.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, warning of thunder, lightning, and strong winds until March 17.
