Uttarakhand Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across all 13 districts of Uttarakhand, as the state continues to experience the effects of intense pre-monsoon activity. Persistent rainfall over the past few days, along with snowfall in the upper Himalayan regions, has led to a noticeable drop in temperatures.
The weather has turned unexpectedly chilly for early June, disrupting normal life and prompting officials to remain on high alert.

Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Expected In Uttarakhand
The IMD has predicted heavy rain along with thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next three hours in various parts of the state. Lightning and strong winds may affect isolated areas in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, and Haridwar. In total, a yellow alert has been issued for all 13 districts of Uttarakhand due to the likelihood of heavy showers.

The following districts are under the IMD's yellow alert advisory:
- Almora
- Bageshwar
- Chamoli
- Champawat
- Dehradun
- Haridwar
- Nainital
- Pauri Garhwal
- Pithoragarh
- Rudraprayag
- Tehri Garhwal
- Udham Singh Nagar
- Uttarkashi
Rain Impacts Life While Temperature Drops
The ongoing rainfall has brought a significant drop in temperatures, with many areas experiencing chillier-than-usual weather. Dehradun recorded a high of 27.6 degrees C and a low of 19.8 degrees C on Tuesday, nearly 8 degrees C below normal. Tehri, in particular, experienced a sharp 9degrees C fall in daytime temperature. Light rainfall also continued intermittently around the Char Dham region, affecting both local travel and daily routines.
While the showers have brought much-needed relief from the scorching summer heat, they have also led to disruptions in public services and transport. Authorities have advised residents and travellers to remain cautious and stay updated with weather alerts.
Monsoon Likely by June 10
According to IMD’s extended forecast, the weather will remain unstable till June 6, with dry conditions expected from June 7 to June 9. The present spell is part of pre-monsoon activity, and the southwest monsoon is anticipated to reach Uttarakhand around June 10. In the meantime, all local departments have been put on high alert to manage any weather-related emergencies.
