Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat: The much-anticipated Vande Bharat Express to Srinagar remains without a confirmed launch date, though authorities have released its schedule along with that of two mail trains running between Katra and Srinagar. The train service is expected to boost connectivity in the region, but its official commencement is still under deliberation.
Srinagar Trains Schedule
The schedules for the Vande Bharat Express and two mail trains operating on the Katra-Srinagar route are as follows:
Vande Bharat Express (Six Days a Week)
Departure from Katra: 8:10 AM, arrival in Srinagar: 11:20 AM
Return journey: Departure from Srinagar at 8:55 AM, arrival in Katra: 12:05 PM
First Mail Express (Daily Service)
Departure from Katra: 9:50 AM, arrival in Srinagar: 1:10 PM
Return journey: Departure from Srinagar at 8:45 AM, arrival in Katra: 12:05 PM
Second Mail Express (Daily Service)
Departure from Katra: 3:00 PM, arrival in Srinagar: 6:20 PM
Return journey: Departure from Srinagar at 3:10 PM, arrival in Katra: 6:30 PM
Expected Fare For Srinagar Vande Bharat
The Vande Bharat Express will feature advanced technology, making it operational even in extreme cold conditions. The fare for travel between Katra and Srinagar is expected to range between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,500, while the executive chair car ticket may cost between Rs 2,200 and Rs 2,500, reported Jagran.com. However, final fare details will be confirmed after an official announcement.
The Vande Bharat Express to Kashmir will halt at several key stations along its route. These include: Delhi, Ambala Cantonment, Ludhiana Junction, Pathankot Cantonment, Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (Katra) after transshipment, Reasi, Banihal, Kanjigund, Anantnag and Srinagar railway stations, Jagran.com reported.
Srinagar Vande Bharat Launch
While the exact launch date for the Vande Bharat Express to Srinagar remains unconfirmed, reports suggest that services could begin by the last week of March or the first week of April.
The expected timeline aligns with the start of the tourist season in Kashmir, which could see a surge in visitors. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has also spoken about the train’s expected launch, while Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has stated that the inspection process is complete. The service will commence once final approvals are granted.
