Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Update: Indian Railways is gearing up to launch India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train in the coming weeks. According to reports, this new service is expected to connect Delhi with Patna, possibly extending to Darbhanga and Sitamarhi in Bihar, marking a significant enhancement in long-distance travel.
The Railway Ministry is expected to roll out the Vande Bharat sleeper train in late September or early October, ahead of Diwali, Chhath Puja and the Bihar Assembly Elections. Last month, the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the launch of the Vande Bharat sleeper train in September.
Vande Bharat Sleeper Train To Run On Delhi-Patna Route: Check Travel Time, Speed, Cost
The Vande Bharat Sleeper train services on the Delhi-Patna route are being introduced ahead of the festive season to cater to the sharp rise in travel demand to Bihar. With this new service, Indian Railways aims to reduce congestion and provide a faster and more convenient travel option for passengers.
- The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will significantly cut down travel time on the Delhi-Patna route. The semi-high-speed train will cover the distance in just 11.5 hours, NDTV reported.
- However, the base fares of the Vande Bharat sleeper train are expected to be 10-15 per cent higher compared to the fare of existing train services on the Delhi-Patna route.
- The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is designed to run at a speed of 180 kilometres per hour compared to current trains on the same route running at a speed of 130 kilometres per hour.
- The Vande Bharat Sleeper train features driver cabins at both ends, eliminating turnaround delays at terminal stations and ensuring efficiency.
- The semi-high-speed train is equipped with advanced onboard safety and monitoring systems, including anti-collision technology, CCTV surveillance, crash-resistant coaches, and LED display screens for real-time passenger information.
- In a bid to enhance the travel experience, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train comprises aircraft-style seating, soft ambient lighting, ergonomically designed sleeper berths, sensor-operated automatic doors, and modern bio-toilets.
However, no official announcement has been made regarding the exact schedule and booking dates of Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. Advance reservations are expected to be opened once the launch date is confirmed.
