Delhi-Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Indian Railways is all set to launch the much-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper Train on the busy Delhi-Howrah route, offering a faster and more comfortable travel option, especially for passengers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Until now, Vande Bharat trains only offered seating through AC chair cars, making long journeys a bit tiring. But now, with the introduction of sleeper coaches, passengers can travel long distances overnight in greater comfort.
This new sleeper train will run at a speed of up to 160 km/h, covering the 1,449 km journey between Delhi and Howrah in just 15 hours. The demand for this upgrade has been strong, and Indian Railways is finally responding with this major change.
Delhi-Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Route and Important Stops
Unlike the regular Vande Bharat, the sleeper version will stop at more stations, making it even more convenient for people along the route. Key stoppages are expected at:
- Kanpur Central
- Prayagraj Junction
- DD Upadhyay Junction
- Dhanbad Junction
- Gaya Junction
- Asansol Junction
This means passengers from UP, Bihar, and Jharkhand will find this train especially useful for faster and smoother travel.
Delhi-Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Train Timings and Schedule
The sleeper Vande Bharat may depart from Delhi at 5 PM and reach Howrah by 8 AM the next day. The return journey is expected to follow the same timing, departing from Howrah at 5 PM and arriving in Delhi the next morning.
If finalised, this will become a great overnight travel option, combining speed, convenience, and comfort.
Delhi-Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Expected Ticket Prices
While the official fares haven't been released yet, estimates suggest:
3AC (Third AC): Rs 3,000 per seat
2AC (Second AC): Rs 4,000 per seat
1AC (First AC): Rs 5,100 per seat
These fares may seem slightly higher than regular trains, but the speed, comfort, and premium experience are expected to justify the cost.

The train is expected to have a total of 16 coaches, mainly focused on affordability and capacity:
- 11 coaches of 3AC – For budget-conscious travellers
- 4 coaches of 2AC – For more spacious comfort

By including more 3AC coaches, the railway aims to keep this premium experience accessible for the majority of Indian travellers.
