Vijay Kumar Malhotra Death News: BJP veteran Vijay Kumar Malhotra passed away at his residence here on Tuesday morning, Delhi BJP said in a statement.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra died at the AIIMS Delhi on Tuesday morning. The Delhi BJP shared the news of his demise in a post on X. Malhotra, 94, was the first president of the Delhi unit of the BJP.

Incidentally, Malhotra's passing away came a day after Delhi BJP received a permanent office at DDU Marg that was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
Malhotra's life was an example of simplicity and public service and he did much work for expansion of Jan Sangh in Delhi, said the party statement.
In a post on X, PM Narendra Modi also paid his condolences to the veteran leader. He wrote, "Shri Vijay Kumar Malhotra Ji distinguished himself as an outstanding leader, who had a very good understanding of people’s issues. He played a vital role in strengthening our Party in Delhi. He is also remembered for his Parliamentary interventions. Pained by his passing away. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti."

The party stated that his body would be brought to his official residence at 21 Gurdwara Rakabganj Road around 8:45 AM for mourners to pay their last respects.
Who Was BJP Leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra?
Born on December 3, 1931, in Lahore, Vijay Kumar Malhotra was the fourth of seven children of Kaviraj Khajan Chand. He is best remembered as an Indian politician and sports administrator. Malhotra served as President of the Delhi Pradesh Jana Sangh (1972–75) and twice as State President of the Delhi BJP (1977–80, 1980–84).
A prominent figure in Delhi’s political landscape, Malhotra was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) five times and as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) twice. He played a key role in sustaining the BJP’s presence in Delhi alongside leaders like Kedar Nath Sahni and Madan Lal Khurana. His most notable political victory was defeating former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by a landslide margin in the 1999 Lok Sabha elections from South Delhi.
Malhotra held a doctorate in Hindi literature and was actively involved in the administration of chess and archery clubs in Delhi. Alongside Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani, he left the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to pursue a political career through the Jan Sangh, where he worked extensively to promote the RSS ideology in Delhi.
