Wayanad Landslide Live News Updates: Massive landslides struck various hilly areas near Meppadi in Kerala's Wayanad district early on Tuesday, killing over 70 people while hundreds of people are still suspected to be trapped. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has said that the fire force and NDRF teams have been deployed to the affected area and the rescue operation is underway. Two Kannur Defence Security Corps teams have also been instructed to move to Wayanad to assist in the rescue efforts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed anguish over the incident. He has also announced Rs 2 lakh compensation for the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured. PM Modi has also spoken to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to take stock of the situation.

Wayanad Landslide Rescue Halted For Night, Search Ops To Continue Tomorrow
The rescue and search operation being carried out by the personnel of tri-services, state and federal agencies was put on hold for the night. The operation will commence tomorrow, said Army colonel overseeing the operation.

Wayanad Landslide LIVE: 200 Army Personnel, 30 Specialist Navy Swimmers Deployed To Assist In Rescue
Wayanad Landslide LIVE: After a massive landslide hit Chooralmala in Kerala's Wayanad on Tuesday, Indian Army, Navy and Airforce has deployed help on the request of the state government. Around 200 Indian Army personnel from the DSC Centre in Kannur and the 122 TA Battalion from Kozhikode were sent to the site. The 122 TA Battalion has now arrived and is assisting with relief operations. Additionally, a team of 30 specialist swimmers from the Indian Navy has been deployed, and two helicopters from the Air Force station in Sulur have also been dispatched.

Karnataka CM Expresses Grief Over Landslide Tragedy; Says 'We Stand With Kerala'
Following a tragic landslide which claimed over 80 lives in Kerala's Wayanad on Tuesday, Chief Minister of neighboring Karnataka expressed grief, while assuring all necessary assistance to Kerala.
"It was heartbreaking to hear the news that more than 70 people have died in the landslide accident in Kerala and many have gone missing. We are going to stand with the people of neighboring Kerala in such a difficult time. Our government will provide all necessary assistance to Kerala," Chief Minister Siddaramaiah posted on X.
