Weather Alert: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) there is a possibility of heavy rain in multiple states in North India including Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttarakhand on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a spell of heavy rain lashed Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Gurugram this morning, bringing much needed relief from the humid weather.
Red Alert In Uttarakhand
IMD has issued a red alert in Uttarakhand. In view of bad weather conditions, the Kedarnath Yatra has also been stopped for three days from 12-14 August. The rescue operation is underway in Uttarkashi. More than 1000 people have been rescued so far from the disaster-hit Dharali
The red alert is also in place for hilly areas of West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains with thunderstorms in these states.
Orange Alert In Bihar, Himachal And Odisha
IMD has issued an orange alert for rain in Bihar, Odisha and Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. Very heavy rains are expected in Bihar and Odisha along with thunderstorms and lightning. Apart from this, heavy rains are also expected in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Meanwhile, NH-305 has been closed due to landslides in Himachal Pradesh. Traffic is disrupted on more than 360 roads. So far 116 people have died and 37 people are missing in Himachal due to rain, jagran.com reported.
UP Weather
IMD has issued a warning for heavy rains at many places in UP in the next 72 hours. Heavy rain is likely to lash Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Basti and Sant Kabir Nagar.

At the same time, there may be heavy rain in Gonda, Shravasti, Ambedkar Nagar, Saharanpur, Siddharth Nagar and Bijnor and surrounding areas. There is a possibility of thunder and lightning in the districts adjoining Prayagraj.
IMD has issued a yellow alert for rain in most states including Uttar Pradesh. Light to moderate rain may be seen in some areas of all states except Karnataka, Gujarat, Punjab and western Rajasthan.
