Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan during the next few days. During this period, monsoon will remain active in many parts of northwest, central and eastern India. As per the weather body, Delhi and UP will receive heavy rain on Thursday.

Heavy Rain Alert In THESE States

As per IMD, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Bengal, Sikkim and Jharkhand are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha may also receive heavy rainfall during the next few days.

At a press conference, IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Central India and the adjoining Southern Peninsula.

This includes eastern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Vidarbha and adjoining areas of Telangana and parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra. "We should keep an eye on the catchment areas of rivers like Godavari, Mahanadi and Krishna," he said.

Cloudburst Causes Devastation In Himachal Pradesh

Rescue teams recovered five more bodies on Wednesday amid heavy destruction caused by cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district on the night of June 30. So far, 15 people have died in the disaster, while 58 are missing. 46 people are missing in the worst-affected Seraj area.

Four bodies have been recovered from Thunag, Pandavashila and Jarol areas. The body of nine-year-old Kanika, missing from Syanj village of Gohar subdivision, was found on the banks of Beas river in Jogindernagar.

Water Level Increases Due To Cloudburst In Sangla Valley

The water level in the drain rose due to cloudburst on the hill in front of Rakchham in Sangla Valley of Kinnaur district of Himachal on Tuesday evening. The Shimla-Reckong Peo National Highway remained closed for seven hours on Tuesday night.

Yamunotri Highway Remains Closed

Partial clouds persisted on the Char Dham and Adi Kailash Yatra route in Uttarakhand on Wednesday and light rain was also recorded at some places. On Wednesday, the road was covered with boulders due to a rock collapse on the Dhapa-Milam motor road adjacent to the China border.

As a result, traffic remained blocked for about two hours. The Yamunotri highway remained closed for the fourth day on Wednesday. Vehicle movement has come to a halt as 15 metres of the road near Ojri has been washed away.
