Noida News: In Greater Noida West, the rainwater harvesting system in various societies was inspected by the team of Ground Water Department and Greater Noida Authority. During inspection, the systems were found choked in six societies including Gaur City's 6th, 7th Avenue and Saya Zion. The ground water department has issued notices to the societies for not cleaning the system even after the monsoon rain, jagran.com reported. In the meeting of the district administration, DM Manish Kumar Verma directed to impose a fine of Rs 5 lakh if the system is not cleaned properly within seven days. Apart from this, the team of Ground Water Department and Greater Noida Authority will soon inspect the rain water harvesting system in 20 societies of Greater Noida West.

Last year, the ground water department and Greater Noida Authority team inspected the rain water harvesting system in 100 societies. In this, the rain water harvesting system was found choked in about 90 societies. After this, the ground water department was asked to clean the system. However, even after the arrival of monsoon, the rain water harvesting system was not cleaned.

Groundwater level has been falling in Noida and Greater Noida because of which they are listed in the critical category. The government formed a district level coordination committee and entrusted the committee with the responsibility of solving the problem.
