Weather News: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of dense fog across the North Indian states on Monday, November 18. The weather body has also issued alerts for heavy rain in parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands with a gradual dip in temperatures in the northwest region of the country starting today.

South India Weather

A cyclonic circulation over the Maldives and a trough extending to the southeast Arabian Sea are driving weather changes, particularly in South India. Squally winds are expected in the southeast Arabian Sea and surrounding areas.

South India Forecast

The southern states are expected to experience wet conditions due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the Maldives and a trough extending into the southeast Arabian Sea.

-Rainfall Areas: Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

-Thunderstorm Risk: Accompanied by isolated lightning and winds of 30-40 km/h in coastal regions.

North India Weather

Dense to very dense fog conditions are expected during the late-night and early morning hours across the northern plains. These conditions will affect visibility in several regions.

-Regions Affected: Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, North Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.

-Duration: November 17 night through November 18 morning.

Northwest India Weather

-Northwest India: Minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3°C over the next five days, leading to cooler conditions.

-Central and East India: Stable conditions for the next few days, followed by a slight dip.

Delhi Weather

The air quality in Delhi has worsened significantly, with the AQI reaching the "severe plus" category on Monday morning. At 6 am, the AQI stood at 481, posing a severe risk to public health.

In response, the Delhi government implemented GRAP 4 restrictions. Chief Minister Atishi announced that physical classes for all students, except those in Classes 10 and 12, will be suspended. Schools will transition to online mode until further notice. Additionally, diesel trucks have been banned from entering Delhi to reduce pollution. Construction works have also been banned.
