Weather Today: The activation of two western disturbances has led to a shift in weather conditions across North India. Himachal Pradesh’s high-altitude regions, including Baralacha, Kunzum, and Rohtang, received light snowfall on Thursday, resulting in a drop of up to 7 degrees Celsius in maximum temperature. Meanwhile, snowfall activity is expected to begin in Jammu and Kashmir from Friday.
Thursday was the coldest day of the season for Delhi, with the maximum temperature settling at 20.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum dipping to 9 degrees Celsius. Dense fog added to the chill, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert at 3 am, followed by an orange alert around 5 am. The reduced visibility led to significant disruptions in both air and rail services.
Himachal Pradesh Weather
In Himachal Pradesh, the maximum temperature dropped by 7 degrees Celsius in Solan and 4 degrees Celsius in Kangra. Una, Mandi, and Dharamshala saw a drop of up to 6 degrees Celsius. IMD has forecast cloud cover at some places in the state on December 19.
Rajasthan Weather
In Rajasthan, Fatehpur in Sikar district recorded a minimum temperature of 4.3 degrees Celsius. Nagaur recorded a low of 4.4 degrees Celsius. Sirohi recorded a low of 5.4 degrees Celsius, while Dausa recorded a low of 5.5 degrees Celsius. Mount Abu recorded a low of 5.4 degrees Celsius.
Jammu And Kashmir Weather
In view of the possibility of snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, vehicular movement on the Tangmarg-Gulmarg road has been suspended as a precautionary measure. Heavy snowfall is possible in the mountainous regions of Kupwara, Bandipora, and Ganderbal.
UP Weather
Dense fog led to a fatal road accident on the Agra-Jaipur Highway late last night. Six vehicles collided in front of the Abhuapura power station in Kirawali town, leaving several people seriously injured. Dense fog also enveloped many districts of Punjab, with visibility dropping to 50 metres and more in some areas.
