Weather News: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in various parts of the country on August 3. According to the weather agency’s latest bulletin, isolated areas of East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and West Madhya Pradesh are expected to receive extremely heavy downpours on August 3 and 4.

An orange alert has been issued, indicating very heavy rain for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

In Kerala’s Wayanad district, two massive landslides on July 30 in Chooralmala and Mundakkai have already wreaked widespread devastation, with loss of lives and property. The weather office has now cautioned of heavy rainfall in the state.

Furthermore, extremely heavy showers are expected over East Rajasthan on August 4, while very heavy rains are likely over East Rajasthan on August 2 and 3, Uttarakhand on August 3 and 8, and East Uttar Pradesh on August 2. West Rajasthan may also experience very heavy precipitation on August 2 and 5.

Meanwhile, the weather department has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar from August 3 to 6, Gangetic West Bengal on August 2 and the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from August 2 to 6. Further, very heavy rains are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and the northeastern states on August 7 and 8.
