The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday had issued a rainfall alert for several states, such as Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Additionally, the weather department has also predicted snowfall in multiple areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh.
Experts say that changing weather patterns direct a broader seasonal transition. According to atmospheric scientist Professor Manoj Kumar, the dynamic weather pattern marks the “a transitional phase between the winter-dominant Western Disturbances and the approaching easterly winds of the summer season.”
According to the IMD, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from Thursday, April 2, which may bring cloudy skies and chances of rainfall over the region.
Yellow Alert Issued In Delhi
The weather department in Delhi has issued a yellow alert and has predicted light spells of rain in the afternoon and evening, along with gusty winds. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 31 and 21 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Delhiites are likely to experience predominant surface wind speeds of 10 kmph during the morning hours, which may increase to 15 kmph in the afternoon. The wind speed will gradually increase, becoming less than 25 km/h during the evening and night.
Meanwhile, the national capital's air quality stayed in the “moderate’ category, with an AQI of 198 recorded on Sunday. Forecasts predict air quality will remain in a similar range over the coming days.

The IMD suggested that Jammu and Kashmir may receive light to moderate rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 30-50 km/h on Monday.
Places in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan are likely to receive Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-50 km/h on Monday.
Areas in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to experience moderate rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds on March 30 and April 3-4. The weather conditions are likely to remain the same in Uttarakhand on Tuesday as well.
Parts of Punjab, East Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand may experience Isolated hailstorm activity on Monday.
Isolated incandescent rainfall is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya on Monday till April 1 and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on March 30.
Areas of West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, especially on March 31.
The weather department has also forecast isolated light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha till April 2 and Chhattisgarh during the next 5 days.
