JE News Desk: Delhi received a light rain on Monday morning bringing relief to citizens from the scorching heat. The sudden change in weather has been witnessed due to the influence of the Cyclone Biparjoy which formed over the Arabian Sea.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain or drizzle in the national capital for June 19. The maximum and minimum temperatures will likely hover around 39 to 27 degrees Celsius respectively. The IMD has further predicted the same weather for Tuesday, June 20.

After Tuesday, there is no possibility of rain till Saturday, June 24, however, the sky will remain partly cloudy in Delhi for the next four days.

On Sunday, the capital city woke up to light rain and the mercury settled at 28.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, the IMD said. On Saturday, the maximum temperature in the national capital settled at 39.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature settled at 27.6 degrees Celsius.

Earleir, IMD has said the southwest monsoon is expected to move farther into the southern peninsula and eastern regions of the country starting on June 18. Cyclone Biparjoy has fully separated itself from the monsoonal flow, and the IMD said would not affect the development of the seasonal rainfall system.

Meanwhile, the remnant of the cyclonic storm Biparjoy which created a depression over central parts of East Rajasthan is likely to move nearly east-northeastwards and maintain its intensity of depression during the next 12 hours, said IMD.

On Sunday, heavy rain lashed parts of Rajasthan's Barmer district under the influence of cyclonic storm Biparjoy. Severe waterlogging and a flood-like situation were seen at various places.
