People in Delhi-NCR and other parts of north India are reeling under scorching heat. The temperature in Delhi on Tuesday remained at 44 degrees Celsius, but it felt like 51 degrees. As many as three persons succumbed to heat-related illness in the national capital on Tuesday. However, the weather department said some respite from the searing heat is likely in coming days.

The IMD has predicted a possibility of light rain in the national capital over the next three to four days. IMD scientist Soma Sen informed news agency ANI that due to south-westerly winds, there is a likelihood of rain (referred to as pre-monsoon rain) in Delhi over the next three to four days. This could provide relief to people from the heatwave.

The IMD has forecasted for the next seven days, indicating that the national capital will experience slight relief starting Wednesday. Additionally, the weather department has issued a yellow alert for a heatwave in Delhi on June 19 and 20, and a green alert is expected on June 21 and 22.

The weather department has forecast that Wednesday will be partly cloudy. There are also chances of a dust storm with gusty winds blowing at a speed of 40 to 50 km/h, along with thunderclouds, lightning, and light rain. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 43 and 34 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Rain expected in Bihar:

Amidst the scorching heat, there is some good news for the people in Bihar. According to the weather department, from June 20 to June 24, there is a likelihood of moderate to heavy rain in 10 districts. Additionally, strong winds may also occur in these areas. In Patna and the southern regions, there is a forecast of cloud movement along with thunder, lightning, and scattered rain.

UP weather:

People in Uttar Pradesh are facing difficulties due to the severe heatwave and hot nights. On Wednesday, there is a possibility of rain and strong winds with thunder and lightning in both parts of the state. Rain is expected in many areas of UP. In Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, and surrounding areas, strong winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour may occur.
