Himachal Pradesh Faces Deadly Monsoon Toll
Monsoon havoc continues in Himachal Pradesh. There's continuous rainfall since late June which has claimed 106 lives between June 20 and July 15, 2025, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA). “Of the total deaths, 62 were directly caused by rain-related calamities such as landslides, flash floods, cloudbursts, drowning, electrocution and falls, while 44 persons died in road accidents during the same period,” the SDMA reported.
The destruction extends beyond human loss. More than 293 pucca and 91 kutcha houses have been completely destroyed, and over 850 hectares of farmland damaged. Public infrastructure worth over ₹81 crore, including roads, electricity lines, water supply systems, health centres, and schools, has also been severely impacted.
Rajasthan Reels from Monsoon Disruption
In Rajasthan, life remained disrupted for the second straight day as heavy rain lashed multiple districts. Inundation was reported in Jaipur, Churu, Pali, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, and Hanumangarh. Rail services in Jodhpur were affected as water submerged tracks, while road connectivity in Bundi was cut off after the Meja river overflowed.
The IMD recorded the highest rainfall in Bhilwara’s Bijolia, followed by Bhainsrodgarh in Chittorgarh and Makrana in Nagaur. Other heavily affected areas include Tonk’s Niwai, Kota’s Mandana, and Jaipur’s Sambhar.
Jaipur witnessed severe waterlogging, with water entering homes and creating massive traffic snarls. Vehicles were stranded for hours, particularly on Tonk Road. For Wednesday, heavy to very heavy rain alerts have been issued for Kota, Udaipur, Bharatpur, and Bikaner divisions.
As the monsoon maintains its grip across northern India, authorities urge residents in the affected regions to remain alert, follow weather updates closely, and avoid unnecessary travel. The coming days are expected to test both infrastructure and resilience, as rain continues to batter large swaths of the country.
