Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that several states across the nation are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming days. Along with rainfall, the northern states are also expected to receive heavy gusty winds and thunderstorms. The temperature in several states has dropped by two to four degrees Celsius, providing a major relief from the heat. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

The weather department stated that several states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, are set to receive moderate to heavy rainfall in the upcoming days. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconveniences to the residents. The change in weather is also likely to damage the crop, especially in states like Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

While providing details, the IMD stated that several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Agra, Mathura, Saharanpur, Lucknow, Kanpur, and Bareilly, are likely to witness and receive moderate to heavy rainfall at least till April 9. It further stated that several states of Bihar such as Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia, and Katihar are under a heavy rain alert for April 8.

The weather department also stated that moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and East Rajasthan till April 9. Apart from this, the southern states are also likely to witness rainfall till April 10, the weather department informed. The temperature across the country is likely to increase significantly after April 12, leading to inconveniences.

The IMD stated that the latest change in weather is due to changing wind patterns and the influence of a western disturbance. The fishermen of the coastal regions are also advised to maintain a distance from the water bodies to avoid inconveniences.
