Weather Updare Today: Major parts of India have been experiencing sporadic rains with dusty storms for the last few days, a comparatively cooler weather for residents. IMD forecasts a new heat wave in eastern India from Saturday, while the northwest and central regions can expect rain and thunderstorms for the next 4-5 days.

The weather office has cautioned of heavy rains, thunderstorms, and lightning in northeastern India from Saturday to May 13. Residents in these areas are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.

The IMD has predicted heatwave conditions in various parts of the country, including:

- Himalayan sub-regions of Bengal and Sikkim: May 11-12

- Gangetic Bengal: May 10-14

- Bihar and Odisha: May 11-14

- Jharkhand: May 12-14

- Eastern Uttar Pradesh: May 14-15

Earlier this month, the IMD had indicated above normal temperatures across most parts of India in May. However, thunderstorms may reduce the intensity of the heat.

According to a report by Jagran.com, IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra stated that most parts of the country are likely to receive above normal rainfall, except for some areas in the northwest, central, and northeast regions.

Mohapatra also mentioned that above normal heatwave days were recorded in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and eastern Madhya Pradesh in April.

Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of varied weather conditions.
