Heavy rain in Delhi and adjacent areas has severely impacted the lives of people. Traffic was disrupted in many areas of NCR due to waterlogging after heavy downpour in Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rain in Delhi-NCR and some districts of Uttar Pradesh for today as well.

Besides, light to moderate rain is likely in North Punjab, North Haryana, parts of Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Northeast India. Light to moderate rains may also occur in Vidarbha, coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir with heavy rains at one or two places.

As many as six flights were diverted to Jaipur on Wednesday due to bad weather in Delhi.

A red alert for heavy rain was issued at 7 pm in Delhi-NCR. Surprisingly, heavy rain had started in various areas even before the warning was issued.

The department also said that due to a group of clouds moving towards the east, moderate rain occurred at most places on Wednesday evening while heavy rain occurred at some places.

Heavy rains in Delhi-NCR have worsened the situation. Water filled the roads at many places, due to which the normal life of the people was disrupted. The roads of Delhi and Gurugram were flooded, leading to long traffic jams on the main roads as well as highways. During peak hours, the pressure of vehicles is also high.

According to the Himachal Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), 85 people have lost their lives so far in this monsoon season in Himachal Pradesh, out of which 54 deaths are directly related to rain-related disasters and 31 others have died in accidents.

This monsoon has seen 23 flash floods, 19 cloudbursts and 16 landslides across Himachal, the SDMA said on Tuesday.
