Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for a new western disturbance, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across large parts of India in the coming days. Active weather is expected in northwestern India, with widespread rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall expected in hilly states and higher elevations.

Strong Winds Will Blow In Plains

The plains, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, are likely to experience intermittent weather activity, with the possibility of light rain, lightning, and strong winds. Some parts of the region may also experience isolated hailstorms and gusty winds, with wind speeds reaching up to 70 km/h, increasing the potential for localised disruptions.

The eastern and northeastern regions are also likely to be under the influence of a western disturbance, which could bring widespread rain and thundershowers. Heavy rain is possible in parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, while Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal may experience strong winds, lightning, and occasional hailstorms.

Central India may experience scattered rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, with isolated hail possible. In South India, light to moderate rain is expected in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana, with isolated heavy rain possible.

Cloudy Weather Likely In Delhi

In Delhi, the IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky. Thunderstorms are also possible until Sunday evening. Occasional light rain or drizzle accompanied by strong surface winds is possible, providing some relief from the heat, though weather conditions will remain variable. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 31-33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may range from 17-19 degrees Celsius.

Additionally, Delhi is expected to experience partly cloudy skies on April 6, providing some relief. Cloudy skies and light rain are expected on April 7 and 8.

The IMD has also indicated that partly cloudy conditions may persist in the capital till April 10, which will help keep the temperatures under control in the first fortnight of the month.
