Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that several states are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that the continuous rainfall will provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. Along with the heavy rainfall, the coastal regions are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 50 to 60 kmph. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and West Bengal, are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall in the upcoming days. However, it clarified that other states like Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Western Rajasthan, Delhi, and Arunachal Pradesh are not expected to receive rainfall for the next two to three days.

The IMD further stated that the residents of Delhi-NCR are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall after September 29. While Uttar Pradesh is not likely to witness rainfall for the next four days, some of the districts are expected to receive rainfall after October 1. Apart from this, several districts of Bihar are also likely to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next four to five days.

The weather department also stated that several districts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri, Marathwada, Pune Ghat, Satara Ghat, Nanded, and Latur, are also likely to witness heavy rainfall at least till October 5. The IMD has advised the fishermen to follow the guidelines and maintain a distance from the water bodies for the next few days to avoid any inconveniences.
