Weather Update: IMD Issues Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm Alert For Delhi-NCR, UP; Check Forecast For Bihar, Bengal

Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday stated that the monsoon has now advanced into Mumbai, other regions of Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Bihar. The weather department stated that Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are expected to witness heavy rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday. Mumbai, after witnessing scorching heat for the past few weeks, received rain on Monday, providing major relief to the residents.

While the heavy rain provided relief from the heat, it also led to waterlogging in the lower regions. However, the vehicular movement was not disrupted despite the heavy rainfall, reported Mid-Day. The weather department has stated that Mumbai and the other nearby cities are likely to witness more rain in the coming days.

Rain Alert In Several States 

According to the weather department, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds are likely in several states, including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh at least till June 25.

Apart from this, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim on Wednesday. The weather department stated that heavy rainfall is also expected in Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, central Maharashtra, Goa, Odisha, Telangana, Kerala, and several northeastern states.

Heavy Rain Likely In Delhi

The residents of Delhi and other nearby cities, including Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad, witnessed dust storms and rain on Tuesday. The change in weather significantly reduced the visibility and provided relief from the heat. While the maximum temperature was calculated at 39 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature remained around 23 degrees Celsius.

The IMD stated that several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Ballia, Azamgarh, Mau, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Chandauli, and Jaunpur, are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next two to three days. The residents have been advised to follow the guidelines and limit their outings during the rainfall.
