Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday stated that several states across India are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming two to three days. The weather department stated that the rains will significantly reduce the temperature in these cities, providing a major relief from the scorching heat. It informed that multiple states, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, are likely to receive rainfall during this period of time. However, it also stated that multiple regions of Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan are also likely to experience a hike in temperature.

Delhi Weather: Heavy Rain Reduces Temperature

The residents of Delhi-NCR witnessed heavy rain along with thunderstorms and gusty winds in the early hours of Friday, reducing the temperature by two to three degrees. The weather department stated that a red alert has been issued for the national capital, advising the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

The residents of Delhi and nearby regions shared waterlogging visuals on several social media platforms due to the heavy rain. Apart from this, the authorities also announced that the rain has also affected the flight services from the national capital.

UP Weather: Several Districts To Receive Rainfall

Apart from this, the weather department also stated that multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive rainfall in the upcoming few days. It stated that light rain along with gusty winds is likely in the capital city, Lucknow, and nearby regions till May 3, adding that the latest weather change will provide relief from the heat.

"Thunderstorms with strong winds (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) are likely at isolated places over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand. Thunderstorms with strong winds (40-50 kmph) are likely at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya. Hailstorm is likely at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Odisha," IMD stated in a post on X.
