Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated that several states are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming few days. It stated that the rainfall will reduce the maximum temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing relief to the residents from the scorching heat. The weather department stated that while the temperature is unlikely to change for the next three days, it is likely to surge after May 22. The weather department stated that multiple states, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, are likely to experience a heatwave in the upcoming days.

Light Rain Expected In Delhi-NCR

The IMD stated that multiple regions of Delhi-NCR are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in the upcoming few days. It further stated that while the light rain along with gusty winds will reduce the temperature a bit, the heatwave is likely to make a comeback by May 22. Apart from this, the weather department also stated that multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are likely to witness heatwaves in the upcoming days. While light rainfall has reduced the maximum temperature in Bihar, it will increase in the coming days.

Kolkata, Other Bengal Districts To Receive Rainfall

Earlier on Sunday, the weather department also stated that multiple districts of West Bengal are expected to receive light to heavy rainfall till May 21. It stated that these regions will witness strong winds and thunderstorms for the next few days. The IMD advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid inconveniences.

"A cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal and an axis extending from Uttar Pradesh to eastern Bangladesh are likely to cause scattered rains with thundershowers in all parts of the state today and the next few days," Akashvani Kolkata stated in a post on X. Apart from this, rain is also expected in multiple southern states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh.
