Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that the residents of the northern states are likely to witness severe heat for the upcoming few days. The weather department stated that the maximum temperature in at least 22 cities was recorded at 44 degrees Celsius, eight degrees more than usual. It also stated that the rainfall in multiple states will reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the scorching heat. The IMD further stated that some of these states, including Tamil Nadu and Kerala, are expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds till June 17. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

The weather department stated that Delhi-NCR experienced severe heat on Friday, and the similar weather condition is likely to continue for the next two to three days. While the maximum temperature of the national capital on Friday was recorded at 44 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature remained around 30 degrees Celsius. The IMD stated that the national capital is likely to receive rainfall after June 16, providing relief from the heat.

The weather department also stated that the western and southern states are expected to witness light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming few days. The weather department stated that while the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala are likely to receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds, the other districts are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall.

The IMD stated that several districts of Bihar are likely to witness severe heat for a few more days. The weather department stated that while the maximum temperature is likely to be recorded at 45 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is likely to remain around 33 degrees Celsius. However, it clarified that some of the districts are also likely to receive light rainfall in the upcoming few days.
