Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the hilly states are likely to witness snowfall, leading to a drop in temperature in the plain states. The weather department stated that several northern states, including Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, are also likely to witness a cold wave for the next few days. Apart from this, several regions of western and southern states are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall, leading to waterlogging in the key cities. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid inconveniences.
The air quality of Delhi continued to stay in the very poor category on Sunday as the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded at 390 at 7 am. However, the AQI at several regions was also recorded at above 400, leading to inconvenience to the residents. The worsened air quality has led to several issues, including poor visibility and health-related issues.
The health department has advised the residents to limit their outings and wear masks before going out. The weather department stated that the temperature in the national capital is likely to drop in the upcoming days.
The IMD stated that several northern plain states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana, are likely to witness a significant drop in temperature in the next two to three days. Apart from this, some regions of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are also likely to witness light rainfall. The IMD has suggested the farmers to take precautionary steps to protect their crops.
Apart from this, the weather department has also stated that several southern and western states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days.
