Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday stated that Delhi-NCR and nearby regions are likely to witness light rain along with gusty winds and thunderstorms in the upcoming few days. The weather department stated that the rainfall is likely to reduce the maximum temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the scorching heat. Earlier on Wednesday, the residents of the national capital witnessed gusty winds, leading to poor air quality. The IMD advised the residents to limit their outings in case of thunderstorms and gusty winds to avoid any inconveniences.

Temperature To Surge In Uttar Pradesh, Bihar

The weather department also stated that the residents of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are likely to witness a surge in maximum temperature in the upcoming few days. It stated that the maximum temperature in some of the Uttar Pradesh districts has also crossed 40 degrees Celsius, adding that these districts are likely to experience intense heat along with a heatwave. While the IMD informed that some parts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to witness rainfall on May 17, residents of Bihar are not likely to experience rainfall for the next three to four days. Apart from this, the IMD has also advised people to stay indoors due to the heatwave.

Rainfall Likley In Multiple Regions Of West Bengal

Apart from this, the IMD stated that multiple districts of South and North Bengal are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in the upcoming few days. It stated that along with rain, these districts are also likely to witness gusty winds and thunderstorms. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

Southern States To Witness Rainfall

The weather department also clarified that several southern and northeastern states, including Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming few days. It also stated that Andhra Pradesh is likely to receive the monsoon earlier than usual, as the IMD had already stated that Kerala would receive it on May 27. The weather department stated that while some districts are likely to receive rainfall, others are likely to witness a surge in temperature.
