Delhi AQI Update: Delhi on Friday woke up to very poor air quality with AQI at 301 at 7 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) website. This marks the drastic degradation of the air quality as compared to a day earlier, when the air quality was recorded at 236 at 7 am.

Before that, the air quality in the national capital remained within the moderate category for seven days.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'. The weather department has predicted strong surface winds during the day. On Friday morning, the highest AQI of 410 was recorded in Wazirpur, while the lowest 216, was recorded at ITO.

The sharp decline in Delhi's AQI level was attributed to dust-laden winds blowing in from western Rajasthan. The dust storm increases PM2.5 infiltration indoors.
